“The subject is the work; the result, the image of the work. This process of imprinting, adapted to any form pressed onto an unstretched, unprimed canvas, was to prove extremely productive (...) The idea was to give no meaning to the image other than that of the work that produced it. To say one shape is to say them all, and to say one shape to fill a void immediately created, is to say the same thing in a way that is always different or always the same, this one or another. It also means denying it a precise meaning by giving it one precise meaning and all the others; it also means not recognizing the virtue of existing “differently”, but of existing with all the complexity of meaning that this existence proposes. Of course, it's also about color and the form of color, it's about its weft, its matter and all the work that color brings to light in its encounter with a support, it's, ultimately, about the support, about the space that this support becomes and what it proposes in its existence, in its material possibilities and the space it conditions, it's also about saying that we exist in relation to it because it exists in relation to us.”
