"The origin story of my design interest dates to my time as an industrial and furniture design student in Belgium in the late 1980s.
My education introduced me to the design voices of the day, but my curiosity and taste lead me instead to singular design voices from eras past: Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Royère, Mathieu Matégot, Pierre Chapo, Georges Jouve, Line Vautrin, George Nakashima, Axel Einar Hjort, amongst others.
I am proud to return to Piasa with a curated auction of design and ceramics from my collection I have been collecting passionately over decades. The auction presents a mix of design titans with lesserknown but brilliant designers and artists such as Juliette Derel, Janette Laverrière, Guidette Carbonell, Guglielmo Ulrich, Georges-Henri Pingusson and Rogier Vandeweghe.
Over many years, I've been driven by a love for collecting ceramics by Picasso, a remarkable selection of which open the sale.
I am attracted to strong, singular creative makers and the objects that they have brought into the world. This auction represents a meaningful selection of my collection, and each piece has played a role in my life. I have lived with these wonderful works over the years, and I am happy to give them a chance for a new home."
